**Nagpur Takes Center Stage: BRICS Transport Dialogue Concludes, NMC Rejects Property Tax Hike**

Nagpur recently served as the host city for the third BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting on July 11 and 12, 2026. On the local governance front, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Standing Committee made a significant public announcement on July 11, unanimously rejecting the administration’s proposal for a 10% property tax hike. Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhare affirmed that the decision upheld the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) electoral promise not to burden citizens with increased property taxes. This move comes as a relief to property owners across the city.

Further highlighting the city’s developmental momentum, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the much-anticipated Rs 150 crore Dipti Signal-Wardhaman Nagar Road flyover on July 12. दो दिवसीय शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान हुई चर्चाओं में भारत के विकसित भारत 2047 विजन के अनुरूप महत्वपूर्ण विषयों पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया, जिनमें सतत विमानन ईंधन, शहरी गतिशीलता, मल्टीमॉडल परिवहन, लचीली रसद आपूर्ति श्रृंखलाएं, डीकार्बोनाइजेशन और एआई-आधारित प्रौद्योगिकियों को अपनाना शामिल है. बैठक का उद्देश्य ब्रिक्स देशों के बीच मजबूत परिवहन सहयोग को बढ़ावा देना, व्यापार को सुगम बनाना, क्षेत्रीय और अंतरमहाद्वीपीय कनेक्टिविटी को बढ़ाना और अधिक लचीली वैश्विक आपूर्ति श्रृंखलाओं का निर्माण करना था.

शहर की विकासात्मक गति को और उजागर करते हुए, केंद्रीय मंत्री नितिन गडकरी और मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने 12 जुलाई को बहुप्रतीक्षित 150 करोड़ रुपये के दीप्ति सिग्नल-वर्धमान नगर रोड फ्लाईओवर का उद्घाटन किया. महाराष्ट्र रेल इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर डेवलपमेंट कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (महारेल) द्वारा निर्मित यह चार-लेन फ्लाईओवर, पूर्वी नागपुर में हजारों यात्रियों के लिए यातायात की भीड़ को काफी कम करने और कनेक्टिविटी में सुधार करने की उम्मीद है. ये हालिया बुनियादी ढांचागत सुधार नागपुर के व्यापक शहरी परिवर्तन और ‘न्यू नागपुर’ जैसे महत्वाकांक्षी परियोजनाओं के माध्यम से शहर के भविष्य को नया रूप देने के चल रहे प्रयासों के अभिन्न अंग हैं.
