Nagpur, Maharashtra – The Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has reported a substantial increase in exports, with a nearly 40% growth recorded in the financial year 2025-26. This surge highlights the expanding industrial capabilities within the zone, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Total exports from MIHAN-SEZ reached ₹9,626 crore in 2025-26, a notable rise from ₹6,935 crore in the previous fiscal year. While overall exports have seen a robust increase, service exports experienced a slight decline, falling to ₹2,926 crore from ₹2,974 crore in 2024-25. A significant portion of these services exports is linked to the aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) segment, led by Air India Engineering Services Limited and Indamer. The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), the developer of MIHAN-SEZ, is actively pursuing new investments and has recently seen Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited commence groundbreaking for a robotics and drone manufacturing facility, indicating a future diversification and strengthening of the high-tech industrial landscape.

In a related development, the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has also successfully allocated developed plots to 116 families affected by the MIHAN project through a transparent lottery system. This initiative is part of the compensation package for land acquired from farmers in Shivangaon village, offering them developed plots after payment of development charges. This move addresses long-standing rehabilitation concerns and reflects a people-centric approach to the project’s development. The ongoing infrastructure development and expansion within MIHAN are positioning Nagpur as a key industrial and logistical hub in Central India.
