Nagpur Poised for Tech Expansion with New Initiatives and Investment

Nagpur is gearing up for a significant surge in its technology and industrial sectors, with a series of new developments and investments set to bolster its position as a key economic hub in Central India. The Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) project continues to attract new businesses, with four Nagpur-based companies recently securing land parcels for new facilities, bringing in an investment of approximately ₹1.5 billion and anticipating the creation of around 400 jobs. These companies are involved in diverse sectors including lithium-ion battery technology, aircraft component production, and IT services.

The MIHAN SEZ is evolving into a diversified industrial ecosystem, moving beyond its initial focus as a logistics hub. Recent allocations include V5 Ideas Pvt Ltd for lithium-ion battery manufacturing, Bhagyashri Home Appliances Pvt Ltd for aircraft spare parts, Ideal Mockups Pvt Ltd for consumer goods and automotive prototyping, and Anitra Technology for manufacturing, IT, and trading. These developments are expected to generate skilled employment opportunities and enhance the region’s industrial capabilities.

Furthermore, a broader initiative, the ₹5,000-crore ‘Growth Hub’ plan, aims to transform Nagpur into a national center for logistics, manufacturing, innovation, and regional economic expansion over the next five years. This comprehensive plan integrates large-scale industrial zones, transport upgrades, innovation clusters, and enhanced urban amenities, building upon Nagpur’s strategic location at the heart of India. The initiative is projected to create over 2.5 lakh direct and indirect jobs.

Nagpur is also seeing a push towards becoming a major center for IT, AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics. Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari has emphasized the need for improved infrastructure and connectivity to attract IT industries, highlighting the availability of skilled manpower from local institutions. Efforts are underway to streamline approvals for setting up units in MIHAN, with a target of granting all necessary clearances within 45 days to accelerate industrial investment.

इसके अलावा, एक व्यापक पहल, ₹5,000 करोड़ की ‘ग्रोथ हब’ योजना, का उद्देश्य अगले पांच वर्षों में नागपुर को लॉजिस्टिक्स, विनिर्माण, नवाचार और क्षेत्रीय आर्थिक विस्तार के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय केंद्र में बदलना है। यह व्यापक योजना बड़े पैमाने पर औद्योगिक क्षेत्रों, परिवहन उन्नयन, नवाचार क्लस्टर और बेहतर शहरी सुविधाओं को एकीकृत करती है, जो भारत के केंद्र में नागपुर के रणनीतिक स्थान पर आधारित है। इस पहल से 2.5 लाख से अधिक प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष नौकरियां सृजित होने का अनुमान है।

नागपुर को आईटी, एआई, साइबर सुरक्षा और डेटा एनालिटिक्स के एक प्रमुख केंद्र के रूप में विकसित करने के लिए भी जोर दिया जा रहा है। मंडलीय आयुक्त विजयलक्ष्मी बिदारी ने आईटी उद्योगों को आकर्षित करने के लिए बेहतर बुनियादी ढांचे और कनेक्टिविटी की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया है, जो स्थानीय संस्थानों से कुशल जनशक्ति की उपलब्धता पर प्रकाश डालती है। एमआईएचएएन में इकाइयां स्थापित करने के लिए स्वीकृतियों को सुव्यवस्थित करने के प्रयास चल रहे हैं, जिसमें औद्योगिक निवेश में तेजी लाने के लिए 45 दिनों के भीतर सभी आवश्यक मंजूरी प्रदान करने का लक्ष्य है।
