Senior officials held a series of meetings over the last 24-48 hours to review the progress of pre-monsoon works, with a particular emphasis on clearing drainage systems and enhancing sanitation measures across all zones. The primary objective is to prevent waterlogging in low-lying areas and mitigate the risk of waterborne diseases.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra is expected to visit the city later this week to assess the preparedness firsthand. The NMC has deployed additional teams to identify and desilt clogged drains, manholes, and culverts. A special focus is being placed on key arterial roads and areas prone to heavy rainfall accumulation, such as Sitabuldi and Dharampeth. Awareness campaigns are also being launched to educate citizens on proper waste disposal to avoid contributing to drainage blockages.

Furthermore, the NMC is coordinating with the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) to expedite repairs on existing infrastructure that might be vulnerable during heavy downpours. Emergency response teams are being put on standby, equipped with necessary machinery and resources to handle any untoward incidents swiftly.
