**Nagpur Gears Up for Major Infrastructure Boost with Outer Ring Road Approval**

Nagpur, Maharashtra – In a significant development for regional connectivity and economic growth, the Maharashtra government has officially approved the construction of a new Outer Ring Road around Nagpur. This pivotal infrastructure project, greenlit in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is part of a broader set of proposals from the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) that received the go-ahead. An estimated budget of ₹7,474 crore has been sanctioned for upcoming projects, alongside a revised budget of ₹607 crore for the financial year 2025–26. Furthermore, the land acquisition for the Wainganga–Nalganga river linking project has been approved, aiming to secure future water resources for the region by channeling water from the Gosikhurd dam. The project will involve acquiring approximately 50 km of land. Additionally, the NMC is progressing with its ‘River Cleanliness Campaign 2026,’ with over half of the targeted river stretches already desilted and cleared, a crucial measure for flood mitigation ahead of the monsoon. Anti-encroachment drives are also in full swing across approximately 40 identified road stretches to decongest city roads and enhance pedestrian safety.
