Nagpur to Benefit from Green Energy Power Highway Project

Nagpur is set to receive a significant boost in its green energy infrastructure with the development of one of India’s largest High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission corridors. The ambitious project, estimated at ₹24,819 crore, will transmit 6,000 megawatts of clean electricity directly from Gujarat’s Khavda renewable energy park to Nagpur. This initiative involves laying a nearly 1,200-kilometer-long transmission line and is being jointly developed by Hitachi Energy, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, with a target completion date of 2029.

This “Green Energy Power Highway” is expected to enhance the Vidarbha region’s access to stable and sustainable electricity, benefiting key industries such as automobile manufacturing, steel production, data centers, and IT services. The project aims to reduce reliance on coal-based power, consequently lowering pollution levels and supporting national green energy goals. A major HVDC converter station will also be established in Nagpur to efficiently distribute the clean electricity across Maharashtra and neighboring states.

Meanwhile, GMR Nagpur International Airport Limited (GNIAL) has initiated a major overhaul of the city’s airport infrastructure by floating a four-pronged tender for terminal expansion, airside upgrades, civil construction, and utility infrastructure work at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. This modernization effort, approved by the Union Cabinet, aims to increase passenger capacity and strengthen operational capabilities, responding to rising passenger traffic and Nagpur’s growing role as a logistics and industrial hub within the MIHAN ecosystem.

In a move to foster entrepreneurship, TiE Nagpur has launched the TiE-U Program 2026 at the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). The program, which saw enthusiastic participation from faculty and representatives of prominent educational institutions, is designed to promote a vibrant startup culture and encourage innovation among students. This initiative underscores TiE Nagpur’s commitment to building a strong startup ecosystem by nurturing young entrepreneurial talent.

नागपुर को भारत के सबसे बड़े हाई वोल्टेज डायरेक्ट करंट (HVDC) ट्रांसमिशन कॉरिडोर में से एक के विकास के साथ अपनी हरित ऊर्जा अवसंरचना में एक महत्वपूर्ण बढ़ावा मिलने वाला है। लगभग ₹24,819 करोड़ की अनुमानित लागत वाली यह महत्वाकांक्षी परियोजना, गुजरात के खावडा नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा पार्क से सीधे नागपुर तक 6,000 मेगावाट स्वच्छ बिजली पहुंचाएगी। इस पहल में लगभग 1,200 किलोमीटर लंबी ट्रांसमिशन लाइन बिछाना शामिल है और इसे हिताची एनर्जी, पावर ग्रिड कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया लिमिटेड और भारत हेवी इलेक्ट्रिकल्स लिमिटेड द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से विकसित किया जा रहा है, जिसका लक्ष्य 2029 तक पूरा हो जाएगा।

इस “ग्रीन एनर्जी पावर हाईवे” से विदर्भ क्षेत्र की स्थिर और टिकाऊ बिजली तक पहुंच बढ़ने की उम्मीद है, जिससे ऑटोमोबाइल निर्माण, इस्पात उत्पादन, डेटा सेंटर और आईटी सेवाओं जैसे प्रमुख उद्योगों को लाभ होगा। परियोजना का उद्देश्य कोयला-आधारित बिजली पर निर्भरता कम करना, परिणामस्वरूप प्रदूषण के स्तर को कम करना और राष्ट्रीय हरित ऊर्जा लक्ष्यों का समर्थन करना है। इस स्वच्छ बिजली को महाराष्ट्र और पड़ोसी राज्यों में कुशलतापूर्वक वितरित करने के लिए नागपुर में एक प्रमुख HVDC कन्वर्टर स्टेशन भी स्थापित किया जाएगा।

इस बीच, जीएमआर नागपुर इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट लिमिटेड (GNIAL) ने डॉ. बाबासाहेब अम्बेडकर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर टर्मिनल विस्तार, एयरसाइड उन्नयन, सिविल निर्माण और उपयोगिता अवसंरचना कार्य के लिए चार-तरफा निविदा जारी करके शहर के हवाई अड्डे के बुनियादी ढांचे के एक बड़े ओवरहाल की शुरुआत की है। केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल द्वारा अनुमोदित यह आधुनिकीकरण प्रयास, बढ़ते यात्री यातायात और MIHAN पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र के भीतर नागपुर की बढ़ती भूमिका के जवाब में, यात्री क्षमता बढ़ाने और परिचालन क्षमताओं को मजबूत करने का लक्ष्य रखता है।

उद्यमिता को बढ़ावा देने के प्रयास में, TiE नागपुर ने सॉफ्टवेयर टेक्नोलॉजी पार्क्स ऑफ इंडिया (STPI) में TiE-U प्रोग्राम 2026 लॉन्च किया है। इस कार्यक्रम, जिसमें संकाय और प्रमुख शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के प्रतिनिधियों की उत्साहपूर्ण भागीदारी देखी गई, को एक जीवंत स्टार्टअप संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देने और छात्रों के बीच नवाचार को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है। यह पहल युवा उद्यमशील प्रतिभा का पोषण करके एक मजबूत स्टार्टअप पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र बनाने के लिए TiE नागपुर की प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करती है।
