Maharashtra is embarking on an ambitious plan to establish Nagpur as a prominent Information Technology (IT) and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) hub for central India. This strategic initiative, part of the state’s MahaSTRIDE project, involves a concerted effort to convene industry leaders, academic institutions, and government agencies. The goal is to reposition Nagpur as a key player in the IT sector, diverting a portion of India’s IT outsourcing market towards this Tier-2 city. A crucial meeting was convened on April 27th, chaired by Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the district collector, the chairman and managing director of Mihan India, senior officials from IIM Nagpur, representatives from the Software Technology Parks of India, regional officials of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, and the joint director of the industries department. Industry associations such as NASSCOM, FICCI, and CII, along with leadership from engineering and management colleges, also participated. This multi-pronged approach, integrating government policy, industry demand, and academic talent supply, aims to align infrastructure development with employer needs from the outset.

The MahaSTRIDE project focuses on leveraging Nagpur’s potential by fostering a strong talent pipeline through its engineering and management colleges. This initiative is seen as a strategic priority, moving beyond one-off promotions to establish a sustained outsourcing ecosystem. By bringing together industry leaders, startups, academic institutions, and government agencies on a single platform, the project intends to create a synergistic environment for growth and development in Nagpur’s IT sector.

27 अप्रैल को एक महत्वपूर्ण बैठक आयोजित की गई थी, जिसकी अध्यक्षता संभागीय आयुक्त विजयलक्ष्मी बिदारी ने की। इस बैठक में जिला कलेक्टर, मिहान इंडिया के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक, आई आई एम नागपुर के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, सॉफ्टवेयर टेक्नोलॉजी पार्क्स ऑफ इंडिया के प्रतिनिधि, महाराष्ट्र औद्योगिक विकास निगम के क्षेत्रीय अधिकारी और उद्योग विभाग के संयुक्त निदेशक सहित प्रमुख हितधारक शामिल हुए। नासकॉम, फिक्की और सीआईआई जैसे उद्योग संघों के साथ-साथ इंजीनियरिंग और प्रबंधन कॉलेजों के नेतृत्व ने भी इसमें भाग लिया। सरकारी नीति, उद्योग की मांग और अकादमिक प्रतिभा आपूर्ति को एकीकृत करने वाला यह बहु-आयामी दृष्टिकोण, शुरुआत से ही नियोक्ता की जरूरतों के साथ बुनियादी ढांचे के विकास को संरेखित करने का लक्ष्य रखता है।
