**Nagpur Gears Up for Major Infrastructure Push Amidst Economic Transformation**

Nagpur is poised for significant urban and economic development, with the ambitious ‘New Nagpur’ project at its forefront. Spearheaded by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA), this initiative aims to establish Nagpur as a prime commercial, financial, and technological hub. Bolstered by an investment and funding plan of approximately ₹11,300 crore, the project is designed to accommodate future population growth and evolving infrastructure needs. The development will focus on creating an International Business and Financial Centre across 1,710 acres in the Godhani and Ladgaon areas, with initial development planned on 1,000 acres.

The ‘New Nagpur’ project encompasses the development of modern infrastructure, including underground utility tunnels, district cooling systems, and automated waste collection. Furthermore, the city is set to benefit from enhanced connectivity through the proposed Outer Ring Road and the ongoing development of expressways. These infrastructure upgrades are expected to create a robust business ecosystem, attracting IT companies, startups, and various enterprises, thereby strengthening Nagpur’s position as a key investment destination.

In addition to the ‘New Nagpur’ initiative, the city has recently seen the inauguration of the Dr Keshav Balirampant Hedgewar Flyover, an 8.90 km structure costing ₹998 crore. This marks a significant addition to Nagpur’s existing 35 flyovers, with plans for another 15 to support future growth. The city is also exploring innovative public transport solutions, including the potential launch of an electric trolley bus project.

The District Nagpur administration has also announced measures to address potential water scarcity, with a mandated 10% water cut for urban local bodies from October 16, prioritizing drinking water supply. This move, aimed at ensuring adequate water availability until August 2027, involves careful dam-wise planning overseen by a committee headed by the district guardian minister.

‘नवीन नागपूर’ प्रकल्पात भूमिगत युटिलिटी टनेल, डिस्ट्रिक्ट कूलिंग सिस्टीम आणि स्वयंचलित कचरा संकलन यासह आधुनिक पायाभूत सुविधांचा समावेश आहे. याव्यतिरिक्त, प्रस्तावित बाह्य रिंग रोड (Outer Ring Road) आणि सुरू असलेल्या द्रुतगती मार्गांच्या विकासामुळे शहराला चांगली कनेक्टिव्हिटी मिळणार आहे. पायाभूत सुविधांमधील या सुधारणांमुळे एक मजबूत व्यावसायिक परिसंस्था निर्माण होण्याची अपेक्षा आहे, जी आयटी कंपन्या, स्टार्टअप्स आणि विविध उद्योगांना आकर्षित करेल, ज्यामुळे नागपूर एक प्रमुख गुंतवणूक स्थळ म्हणून अधिक मजबूत होईल.

‘नवीन नवीन नागपूर’ उपक्रमाव्यतिरिक्त, शहरात नुकतेच डॉ. केशव बळीरामपंत हेडगेवार फ्लायओव्हरचे उद्घाटन झाले आहे, जो ₹९९८ कोटींचा ८.९० किलोमीटर लांबीचा पूल आहे. नागपूरमधील सध्याच्या ३५ फ्लायओव्हर्समध्ये ही एक महत्त्वाची भर आहे, आणि भविष्यातील वाढीसाठी आणखी १५ फ्लायओव्हर्सची योजना आहे. शहर इलेक्ट्रिक ट्रॉली बस प्रकल्पासह नाविन्यपूर्ण सार्वजनिक वाहतूक उपायांचाही विचार करत आहे.

जिल्हा नागपूर प्रशासनाने संभाव्य पाणी टंचाईवर मात करण्यासाठी उपाययोजनांची घोषणा केली आहे, ज्या अंतर्गत १६ ऑक्टोबरपासून सर्व शहरी स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांसाठी १०% पाणी कपात अनिवार्य आहे, ज्यामध्ये पिण्याच्या पाण्याच्या पुरवठ्याला प्राधान्य दिले जाईल. ऑगस्ट २०२७ पर्यंत पुरेशी पाण्याची उपलब्धता सुनिश्चित करण्याच्या उद्देशाने, या उपायांमध्ये जिल्हा पालक मंत्र्यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखालील समितीद्वारे पुढाकार घेऊन धरणनिहाय नियोजनाचा समावेश आहे.
