**Nagpur Gears Up for Infrastructure Upgrades and Festive Preparations**

Nagpur is witnessing a flurry of activity as the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) announces ambitious plans for road infrastructure development and citizens prepare for upcoming festivities. The NMC has proposed to concretize a significant number of roads, with Phase V of the project seeing an increase from the initial 135 to 265 roads. This expansion follows numerous submissions from corporators and MLAs across the city, aiming to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time. The project, which has seen four previous phases covering a substantial network of roads, underscores the city’s commitment to improving its urban infrastructure.

In conjunction with infrastructure development, the city is also gearing up for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Special traffic arrangements have been put in place, particularly around the Chitar Oli area, a central hub for Ganesh idol manufacturing and sales. To manage the expected crowds and ensure smooth movement, traffic diversions will be in effect from September 14 to September 15, with Chitar Oli operating under one-way traffic regulations for a 25-hour period. This includes specific diversions for vehicles coming from Badkas Chowk and Shahid Chowk to facilitate the idol processions and collections. Additionally, traffic will be diverted at the Motibag Railway Underpass from September 15 to 18 for girder installation, affecting routes from Kadbi Chowk and Guard Line.

Beyond road work and festivals, the NMC continues its focus on cleanliness and urban development. The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ campaign, launched on September 17, aims to foster community participation in making Nagpur cleaner and greener. The campaign includes various initiatives like special cleanliness drives, health camps for sanitation workers, and awareness programs. Furthermore, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation is planning to continue utilizing the expertise of Ernst & Young LLP (EY) for the next phase of its smart city initiatives, focusing on the ‘Nagpur Safe and Smart City Project 2.0’ and developing a policy for the city’s fiber network.
