Nagpur Traffic Police Launches ‘Helmet Zaroori Hai’ Campaign to Enhance Road Safety
Nagpur, August 28, 2026 – The Nagpur City Traffic Police have initiated a significant public awareness campaign, “Helmet Zaroori Hai” (Helmet is Necessary), aimed at drastically reducing road accidents and fatalities in the city. The campaign will focus on educating two-wheeler riders about the life-saving importance of wearing helmets, not just for compliance with traffic laws, but for their personal safety. Police personnel will be actively present at major intersections and accident-prone zones to engage with riders, distribute informational leaflets, and enforce helmet usage regulations more stringently.
The “Helmet Zaroori Hai” campaign will leverage multiple platforms to reach a wide audience. This includes social media outreach, collaborations with local schools and colleges to instill safe riding habits from a young age, and partnerships with community organizations to spread the message across different demographics. Special emphasis will be placed on encouraging pillion riders to also wear helmets, as they are equally vulnerable in case of an accident. The traffic police department has expressed its commitment to making Nagpur’s roads safer for everyone.
Furthermore, the campaign intends to address common excuses for not wearing helmets, such as inconvenience or style concerns, by highlighting the advanced and comfortable designs available in the market today. Traffic police officials have reiterated that while enforcement is crucial, the ultimate goal is to foster a culture of voluntary safety adherence among Nagpur’s citizens. This proactive approach is expected to lead to a tangible decrease in head injuries and fatalities resulting from road mishaps in the coming months, contributing to a more secure urban environment.
