**Nagpur Civic Body Gears Up for Major Policy Implementation Amidst Infrastructure Development**

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is set to implement a new hawkers’ management policy, aiming to streamline street vending and improve urban infrastructure. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar has directed the formation of a comprehensive policy that addresses traffic congestion and enhances pedestrian safety. A pilot project is planned for major roads in the Dharampeth and Laxmi Nagar zones to introduce an organized system for street vendors. This initiative is part of a broader effort to manage the city’s development effectively.

The NMC also recently put its substantial Rs. 6,200 crore budget for 2026-27 into effect, with departments now tasked to utilize the allocated funds within the remaining eight months of the financial year. Circulars have been issued emphasizing strict adherence to sanctioned allocations and prioritization of ongoing projects. This budgetary push is expected to accelerate various development works across the city, following its approval with modifications in June.

नागपूर महानगरपालिका (NMC) आता पथारी व्यावसायिक व्यवस्थापन धोरणाचे (hawkers’ management policy) महत्त्वपूर्ण पाऊल उचलणार आहे. या धोरणाचा उद्देश पथारी व्यवसायाला सुव्यवस्थित करणे आणि शहरातील पायाभूत सुविधांमध्ये सुधारणा घडवणे हा आहे. महापालिका आयुक्त डॉ. विपिन इटणकर यांनी या संदर्भात एक सर्वसमावेशक धोरण तयार करण्याचे निर्देश दिले आहेत, जे वाहतूक कोंडी कमी करण्यावर आणि पादचारी सुरक्षितता वाढवण्यावर लक्ष केंद्रित करेल. धरमपेठ आणि लक्ष्मी नगर झोनमधील प्रमुख रस्त्यांवर पथारी व्यावसायिकांसाठी एक संघटित प्रणाली सुरू करण्यासाठी प्रायोगिक तत्त्वावर (pilot project) एक प्रकल्प देखील आखण्यात आला आहे. हे पाऊल शहरातील नियोजित विकासाला अधिक गती देण्याच्या दृष्टीने महत्त्वाचे ठरणार आहे.

नुकतेच, नागपूर महानगरपालिकेने २०२६-२७ या आर्थिक वर्षासाठी तब्बल ६,२०० कोटी रुपयांचे अर्थसंकल्प (budget) लागू केले आहे. या अर्थसंकल्पाच्या अंमलबजावणीसाठी विविध विभागांना आर्थिक वर्षातील उर्वरित आठ महिन्यांचा कालावधी देण्यात आला आहे. सर्व विभागांना मंजूर अनुदानाच्या (sanctioned allocations) चौकटीतच काम पूर्ण करण्याचे आणि चालू असलेल्या प्रकल्पांना प्राधान्य देण्याचे निर्देश देणारे परिपत्रक (circular) जारी करण्यात आले आहे. जून महिन्यात काही सुधारणांसह मंजूर झालेल्या या अर्थसंकल्पाच्या माध्यमातून शहरातील विविध विकास कामांना गती मिळण्याची अपेक्षा आहे.
