**Nagpur Civic Body Grapples with Budget Implementation Delays**

**Nagpur, Maharashtra** – The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is facing a significant hurdle in operationalizing its recently approved Rs 6,203 crore budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year. More than two weeks after its adoption, hundreds of development works proposed by corporators across the city’s 38 prabhags remain stalled due to administrative delays. This holds up crucial projects related to roads, drainage, water supply, and other civic amenities, even as nearly three months of the current financial year have already passed. The budget’s implementation was already delayed by approximately 45 days due to the model code of conduct for the MLC by-election. The Standing Committee chairperson is currently undertaking reappropriation of funds following an increase in the ward development fund from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh per corporator, and enhancements to the mayor’s and deputy mayor’s development funds. Further budgetary provisions are also required for proposals made during the budget debate. Corporators have submitted their ward-specific development proposals, but administrative approvals are pending incorporation into the budget implementation process. Zone-wise meetings to finalize ward priorities are also yet to commence, raising concerns as the NMC has a narrow working window post-monsoon.

**नागपुर, महाराष्ट्र** – नागपुर नगर निगम (एनएमसी) को 2026-27 वित्तीय वर्ष के लिए अपने हाल ही में स्वीकृत 6,203 करोड़ रुपये के बजट को चालू करने में महत्वपूर्ण बाधाओं का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। इसे अपनाने के दो सप्ताह से अधिक समय बीत जाने के बाद भी, शहर के 38 प्रभागों के निगम पार्षदों द्वारा प्रस्तावित सैकड़ों विकास कार्य प्रशासनिक देरी के कारण अटके हुए हैं। यह सड़कों, जल निकासी, जल आपूर्ति और अन्य नागरिक सुविधाओं से संबंधित महत्वपूर्ण परियोजनाओं को रोक रहा है, भले ही चालू वित्तीय वर्ष के लगभग तीन महीने पहले ही बीत चुके हैं। एमएलसी उपचुनाव के लिए आदर्श आचार संहिता के कारण बजट के कार्यान्वयन में पहले ही लगभग 45 दिनों की देरी हो चुकी थी। वार्ड विकास निधि को 25 लाख रुपये से बढ़ाकर 35 लाख रुपये प्रति निगम पार्षद करने और महापौर और उपमहापौर की विकास निधि में वृद्धि के बाद, स्थायी समिति की अध्यक्ष वर्तमान में धन के पुनर्विनियोग का कार्य कर रही हैं। बजट बहस के दौरान प्रस्तुत प्रस्तावों के लिए अतिरिक्त बजटीय प्रावधानों की भी आवश्यकता है। निगम पार्षदों ने अपने वार्ड-विशिष्ट विकास प्रस्ताव जमा कर दिए हैं, लेकिन बजट कार्यान्वयन प्रक्रिया में उन्हें शामिल करने के लिए प्रशासनिक स्वीकृतियां लंबित हैं। वार्ड की प्राथमिकताओं को अंतिम रूप देने के लिए जोन-स्तरीय बैठकें भी अभी शुरू नहीं हुई हैं, जिससे चिंताएं बढ़ रही हैं क्योंकि मानसून के बाद एनएमसी के पास काम करने का सीमित समय है।
